![]() It makes you wonder if it's just printers that are an issue. The issue says "Printing to USB-connected printers might fail," and describes exactly the symptoms above: duplicated entries for the printers, and a failure to print from applications that describe the printer by name. Indeed, Microsoft has added a new item to the list of known issues in Windows 10, version 21H1, and it has to do with USB-connected printers. After the update is installed, you might see multiple printer listings available when you only have one product. The KB5015807 update, which rolled out on July 12 and includes OS Builds 19042.1826, 19043.1826, and 19044.1826 all have a glitch that affects printers connected to computers running Windows 10. ![]() Now I'm wondering if it is really a symptom of the update after reading about issues with USB printers after the lastest updates. The issue cropped up again the other night with the driver reinstalled. I'm still running Reaper 5.99, since my license was for versions 4 & 5 so I know it's not a due to a Reaper update. I've deleted and reinstalled the V4.0 drivers, and have been able to work the file, did a bit of editing and haven't had an issue since. I tried resetting the Tascam interface, as it seemed it might be an ASIO issue, since Windows audio seemed to work just fine. Suddenly things got distorted on playback, meters bounced and I was stuck. ![]() Only a couple of plugins (stock ReaEQ and Comp) and a reverb and zero track edits. It had an MT POwerdrumkit track, and a guitar, bass, and vocal track. Yesterday, I was working on a recording with just 4 tracks, only 3 or 4 minutes long. I thought maybe it had something to do with using the video file and moved on. I closed Reaper, restarted and got to the point that I could render the file, and got the video done. Meters were bouncing randomly, and I couldn't stop playback. I was working on a project from a video, editing the audio to add back to the video track and everything suddenly started getting distorted, it got noisy and then Reaper went wonky. Reboot your computer, then Launch Audacity ensure the “Transport menu > Transport Options” have “Overdub” selected (ticked), and "Sound activated recording NOT selected (not ticked), then try a test recording. Now I can say that I ran into a problem. Good, so Audacity isn’t actually “frozen”, it’s just not recording. The “Overdub” option (also in “Transport menu > Transport Options”) should normally be selected (ticked).Ĭlicking the ‘stop’ button causes the red triangles to disappear and the green triangle appear again Look in the “Transport menu > Transport Options” and ensure that “Sound activate recording” is NOT selected (not ticked). So this is the problem that we need to solve. That triangle indicates the recording position (where the “record head” is on the timeline. The red color simply indicates that Audacity is now in “record mode”.Īnd another Red triangle appears over the recording head When clicking the Record button, the green triangle changes to Red Normally you would leave that “un-pinned” as a green triangle, but this is not the cause of your problem.įor now, don’t worry about what “pinned” and “un-pinned” mean, just leave it un-pinned (as a triangle) ![]() If I hover over it, the message ‘click to pin’ appears. I am in the middle of recording a book and this is kinda frustrating.īefore clicking any thing there is a nice green triangle on the left of the track. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated since this is probably my own fault. I’ve searched the help base but no solution found. Have no idea of what these do but they may have something to do with the not recording problem. Also there is a strange ’ push pin’ on the timeline now with the option of pinning of unpinning. To the best of my knowledge I have never used this function before and don’t really know what it does. The only change I can see is a red triangle has popped up on the timeline and right clicking on it says “ timeline actions disabled during recording”. But recently it won’t start recording when I click the Record button it just freezes up and refuses to do anything the microphone and speaker panels on the interface are greyed out and it kinda smirks at me. I’m a longtime user of Audacity having recorded over 2500 audiobook tracks and love it.
